Hello again,
I realize that I have not commented here in quite some time. In fact, I haven't written since actually moving to DC, which I think was the entire point of founding this blog.
Life in DC is going well but I now lack the foundry of a professional wordsmith. Working to mold ore with homemade tools has been done before, oft with great skill, but it takes more time. I have to recall how to speak with my own voice rather than telling the stories of others.
That said, if you would like a great bit of news commentary I highly recommend checking out this morning's episode of Meet the Press. The argumentation between John Kerry and Joe Lieberman was hilarious, if only for the body language. Tom Brokaw is typically a great moderator but seemed unable to get a word in over Kerry's ceaseless babble.
I know this post still isn't giving you anything you couldn't get elsewhere. Its just too nice for me to be typing right now.

Rosen on Mayhill Fowler
Hi all,
I know that a simple link is not a strong way to get back into the blogging scene but I'm trying my best here. I thought this story today by Jay Rosen about how citizen journalist, and Obama supporter, Mayhill Fowler broke the Pennsylvania "bitterness" story to be a great read. Rosen, who works with Fowler over at Off the Bus (an opinion page at Huff Post), talked with her about her relationship to the campaign.
Rosen quotes Fowler as saying:
As I now realize, I have had what may have been a unique relationship with the mid-level folks at the Obama Campaign. I’ve written about the campaign critically from my very first Obama piece for OffTheBus and yet I never found any subsequent lack of access. Of course, until last week I had never written anything about Senator Obama particularly newsworthy. And so the Obama folks in California and I had an easy relationship, none of us ever dreaming that one day I would hear something important.
The question now, as Rosen's point about Meet the Press brings up, is are professional journalists willing to rely on people like Fowler for leads?

Welcome to the Tankard
At the insistence of some friends, I am starting a new blog to chronicle my life in DC. So here is my latest entry into the blogosphere.
For more extensive thoughts on moving to the national capital, I am referring readers to the last column I wrote for my college newspaper, "Rome"-ward Bound.
By the way, props to whoever figures out the completely wonky title for this blog.
